Solar Cells
Solar
cells are semi-conductor equipment generating
electric power when exposed to sunlight. Solar
cells have many applications, especially for
remote areas where power networks have not been
developed, by technical and/or commercial
reasons. Solar cells are used for orbit
satellites; but now solar cells are more
and more popular, appearing on houses, plants,
communication stations, etc.. Solar panels, a
sheet consisting of many solar cells, can
connected with inverters to power networks.
Solar panels are still expensive, however, its price is expecting to be reduced in coming years. There are projects, called Solar Energy farms, where solar panels are placed to generate commercial power, for social uses.
It should be emphasized that Solar power is green and sustainable power sources. The price is higher compared with other sources; but the return in term of environment protection should be considered. Solar Energy needs supporting policies to encourage its development.
